Located in a private old oak woodland this hide has been set up to photograph some of the UK's favourite woodland species. A range of perches. log piles and a photogenic fallen oak branch create the perfect stage for capturing your images. This hide is our most active hide with a range of visitors throughout the day - of course, every day is different though!

As well as the fallen oak branch we now have a 16ft reflection pool at window level for two of the windows in the hide and also a "prop table" which we regularly update featuring various items (such as native flowers, tree stumps, old troughs and taps, garden tools) that the creatures use as perches to create a different look.

The following species have all been sighted from this hide;

Mammals - Roe Deer, Muntjac Deer, Grey Squirrel, Weasel, Badger

Birds of Prey - Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Red Kite and Tawny Owl
Woodland Birds - Greater spotted woodpecker, treecreeper, pheasant, jay, magpie, jackdaw, woodpigeon, stock dove, goldcrest, long tailed tit, blue tit, great tit, coal tit, chaffinch, robin, 

The hide itself is an insulated structure with comfortable seating and designed with photography in mind.  

We recommend you bring the following to a session;
 

- Your camera with telephoto lens (200mm+) and plenty of battery and memory card

- Wellies / outdoor shoes to get to hide, warm comfortable shoes for in the hide

- Multiple layers of clothing (it can get cold sitting for a few hours)

- Drinks/snacks (Hot drinks can be refilled free of charge before your session, snacks should be in quiet containers and low odour)

You will be met fifteen minutes before your booking start time in the car park of the Royal Oak and then taken to the hide. There is a 5 minutes drive and then a 500m walk to access this hide.

Bookings can be made on any day of the week when available and you stay in the hide as long as you like with up to two other people for no extra charge. Assisted tuition, from myself, may also be available in the hide via this page.
