Little Owl Hide

This hide is currently closed

Each year we set up a portable hide giving our visitors the opportunity to photograph our family of little owls. The site has a number of preset posts and perching areas that the owls frequent as well as a beautiful old window frame the owls are often spotted resting in.

In 2019 we had a fantastic few weeks with the owls but they unfortunately then disappeared and have not yet been seen since - we believe predated. Over the Autumn and Winter, we will be setting up a number of Little Owl Nestboxes surrounding the old site in the hope that the owls return so watch this space!

The hide itself is a pop-up hide with space for two photographers and seating provided. This hide is not insulated but is weather resistant.  There are no toilet facilities at this hide and you will be required to stay in the hide until you are collected at the end of your session.

Assisted sessions are also available where I will stay with you throughout your visit and be able to top-up supplementary food and advise you on technical elements and behavioural aspects of the owls. This should be booked in addition via this page

We recommend you bring the following to a session;

- Your camera with telephoto lens (200mm+) and plenty of battery and memory card

- Tripod and head (we do have a gimbal head and tripod available to borrow if required)

- Multiple layers of clothing (it can get cold sitting for a few hours)

- Drinks/snacks (Hot drinks can be refilled free of charge before your session, snacks should be in quiet containers and low odour)

Please meet fifteen minutes before your booking start time in the car park of the Royal Oak and then taken to the hide. There is a 5 minutes drive and then a 200m walk around a working dairy to access this hide.

Please ensure you read our Terms and Conditions before making your booking
