Downs Hide

This hide is currently closed

Up on the downs, at the far end of our farm, I have a hide designed to give you the opportunity to capture some of the more elusive British wildlife. This hide is less active than our woodland hide and requires greater hide etiquette but offers some fantastic opportunities for those willing to put in the work!

The following species have all been sighted from this hide;

Mammals - Fallow Deer, Roe Deer, Fox and Badger

Birds of Prey - Red Kite, Buzzard, Kestrel, Merlin and Sparrowhawk
Woodland Birds - Greater spotted woodpecker, pheasant, partridge, jay, starling, raven, carrion crow, corn bunting, fieldfare, yellowhammer, blue tit, great tit, goldfinch, chaffinch, wren and robin

The hide itself is an insulated structure with comfortable seating and designed with photography in mind.  Solar powered power is available in this hide for basic devices with a three pin plug - chargers etc.

We recommend you bring the following to a session;

- Your camera with telephoto lens (300mm+) and plenty of battery power and memory cards

- Wellies / outdoor shoes to get to hide, warm comfortable shoes for in the hide

- Multiple layers of clothing (it can get cold sitting for a few hours)

- Drinks/snacks (Hot drinks can be refilled free of charge before your session, snacks should be in quiet containers and low odour)

You will be met thirty minutes before your booking start time in the car park of the Royal Oak and then taken to the hide. There is a 10-minute drive and then a 500m walk to access this hide.

Bookings can be made on any day of the week, when available for as long as you like on the day. Please book for your arrival time.

Please ensure you read our Terms and Conditions before making your booking
